We live in a digital age and use a large number of electrical and electronic devices; our home also has many electrical appliances. And there are times when we find that the general purpose electrical outlets just aren’t enough for our needs. And we often just grab a double adapter to allow us to use the multiple devices we need in that space. This is something we all very commonly do in our home, not realising that it can be extremely risky to do so.

While these multi-adapters seem like an easy and quick solution and it meets your immediate needs, theY are pretty hazardous to use as a permanent or regular solution. At Quick Connect Electrical we never recommend the use of double adapters because:

  • These attachments don’t come with overload protection features.
  • Most adapters are angled and this increases the risk of electrocution and fire.
  • Incorrect use & poor maintenance increase these risks to you and your family.

The rise in electrical and electronic devices requiring very frequent charging means if your home has insufficient general electrical outlets, you would be compelled to use adapters. As mentioned earlier, these attachments don’t have any overload protection; if any one device that’s plugged into the double adapter draws additional current that can result in an overload which in turn can cause an electrical fire. Most of us aren’t aware of how much power each of the electrical devices needs; this is why we should never risk attaching too many devices to a single electrical outlet as that can compromise the electrical safety in our homes.

More problems

Most double adapters are designed very poorly and that also means there are many loose connections since the plugs enter the adapters at an angle. If the plug becomes a little dislodged that can pose a problem because the exposed pug pins are live. If any jewellery or even your finger comes into contact with these live pins accidentally that can result in a blowout or electrocution.

Some people also go to the extent of piggybacking adapters- they plug one adapter into the socket in the wall and then another double adapter into it. The idea is to provision for as many outlets as possible through a single electrical outlet. This can result in overheating when multiple devices are being charged which increases the risk of an electrical fire. As you can see, it’s never a good idea to use double adapters regularly or as a permanent solution to charge devices in your home. It’s best to call us in to get additional power points added in the location where you need to plug in more devices regularly.

MICHAEL CHEN

Very happy with the great service and professionality! Mohammed was very patient and meticulous, going (quite literally) above (our deck's roof) and beyond to find and fix problems with some existing bad wiring. Explained all the problems in a very clear and informative way. Would highly recommend this service to friends and family!

"I would highly recommend Karl and his team for any work his professionalism and dedication to his work is remarkable.

We are currently building a 225sqm complex extension in Strathfield and he has continuously offered great advice on how to proceed with all things electrical from led lights and power points to HDI cables for the TV. He has always been on time and has gone above and beyond expectation. He and his team even worked 10hrs on a day that was 45 degrees. Once again I would highly recommend Karl"
